What this means for you
For Chinese readers in the US, the practical link in this story is mainly to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics: the article states that this competition counts toward qualification points for those Games, which will be held in the US. It also notes that the women's 57-kg category in which Chen Guan-ling competed is not among the six weight classes included in the Los Angeles Olympics, so her medals here do not correspond to an Olympic pathway in that class. Otherwise the article reports athletic results only and does not address visas, immigration, jobs, income, prices, education, safety or family life for Chinese readers living in the US.

Taipei, Oct. 31 (CNA) Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling (陳冠伶) won two silver medals and one bronze in the women's 57-kilogram category at the World Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo, China, on Friday.
Chen failed her first attempt at 90 kg in the snatch but succeeded on her second try. She then failed to lift 93 kg on her third attempt, earning the bronze medal with her 90-kg lift.
She then excelled in the clean and jerk, successfully lifting 117 kg, 119 kg and 125 kg in all three attempts to win silver in the discipline and another silver for her 215 kg total.
The 21-year-old native of Luzhou, New Taipei won a bronze medal at this year's Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, with lifts of 95 kg in the snatch and 122 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 217 kg.
With her medal haul on Friday, Chen improved on her showing at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she bagged one silver and two bronze medals.
Taiwan sent eight male and eight female weightlifters to this year's competition, which is being held from Oct. 27 to Nov. 8.
The event counts toward qualification points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded separately in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total.
However, the women's 57-kg category is not among the six weight classes included in the Los Angeles Olympics. According to the International Weightlifting Federation, the women's Olympic categories are 53 kg, 61 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, 86 kg and over 86 kg.
