By distributing Cappellotto vacuum trucks, KOR Equipment is supporting safer, more efficient mining cleanup and maintenance. Keeping mine sites clean …
Keeping mine sites clean is rarely a simple task, particularly when maintenance, spills and material recovery need to be completed quickly to avoid production disruption.
This is where Cappellotto industrial vacuum trucks shine.
The company’s CAP VAC INDUSTRIAL and CAP BORA units are engineered for heavy-duty vacuum recovery, clean-up and shutdown maintenance, with applications already extending across mining regions including the Pilbara, Kalgoorlie, Karratha and Darwin.
As the exclusive distributor in Australia and New Zealand, KOR Equipment Solutions has driven Cappellotto’s footprint in this region.
“They are high-productivity machines that will perform in incredibly challenging environments for a very long period of time,” KOR head of sales Thomas Pewtress told Australian Mining.
“When you are in a mining operation, particularly in places like Port Hedland and Karratha where time is money, if there is a problem, spill or hazard that needs to be cleaned up quickly and effectively, Cappellotto is the solution.”
The trucks are designed around both wet and dry vacuum capability, with long-distance eight-inch hoses and boom rotation of up to 270 and 285 degrees, depending on the unit. This provides operators with greater reach and manoeuvrability when accessing areas requiring material recovery.
“The benefit of an eight-inch system compared with equivalents that might be running in a mining application is that a larger blower gives you higher airflow and greater productivity,” Pewtress said.
“The pumps have to be correctly engineered to support that productivity, and that is what the Cappellotto product provides.”
Long-term reliability is also a consideration for mining contractors and operators investing in equipment.
KOR has supplied Cappellotto units to heavy industrial applications in Australia for 15 years, with equipment operating across major mining territories.
KOR is marking the anniversary alongside the delivery of its 1000th Cappellotto truck to Australian and New Zealand markets.
The milestone unit is a CAP BORA, adding to a fleet that, according to Pewtress, has demonstrated its capabilities across some of Australia’s most demanding mining regions.
“There is basically not a single mining territory in Australia that does not have Cappellotto heavy industrial eight-inch technology somewhere within the operation,” he said.
“They have proven to work in those environments over a very long period of time.”
The company is looking to build on its involvement in the mining industry, showcasing its vacuum recovery offerings at key industry events, such as WA Mining in Perth and the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney.
“Events like this are critical for us,” Pewtress said.
“You need a direct presence in the market because of the value face-to-face conversations bring for both prospective business and establishing the strong relationships we already have.”
KOR’s offering also extends to remotely operated cleaning through Gerotto, a provider of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), which can be connected to vacuum trucks by hose.
The systems are designed for complex vacuuming and industrial cleaning applications where removing personnel from hazardous or confined environments can reduce exposure.
The ROVs can be operated remotely using cameras and hydraulic controls, allowing cleaning work to continue without requiring personnel to enter the space being cleaned.
“There are so many benefits to Gerotto,” Pewtress said.
“You can put it into a confined space, work continuously using cameras and hydraulic controls from a safe location outside, and get the job done more efficiently while taking away the risk factor that could potentially put human lives at risk.”
Together, the Cappellotto vacuum trucks and Gerotto ROVs provide KOR with a broader suite of recovery and cleaning equipment for mining applications.
As KOR increases its focus on mining, the company is using its existing industrial experience and established equipment base to demonstrate how specialised vacuum technology can contribute to faster clean-up, reduced operational disruption and safer maintenance practices.
